Do What You Can

Hello friends!

I have recently been working hard to make some membership tiers on my own website for those of you who wish to support me year-round. Newsletters will always be free. There is absolutely no pressure in joining a membership! You just might have to deal with me talking about it every once in a while.

I have made 2 tiers, Guppies and Goldfish. Guppies are $1 a month with no additional benefits. Goldfish are $5 a month, and they will receive some exclusive behind-the-scenes work for my Book 2 project. There is a whole lot of things to talk about regarding the conceptualization and planning phases before I can start discussing final illustrations! I will catch up to more current updates in a bit (don't want to burn myself out!). I will be posting two blogs soon after this one that you can have immediate access to.

Book 2 progress has been going well! I’ve been, admittedly, distracted by video games (I am officially obsessed with Stardew Valley), but progress is progress! I’ve adopted the attitude of doing what I can. Some days I’m ready to tackle sketching out two spreads (4 pages). Some days I don’t want to, so I measure out and prep future pages, or start writing a blog/newsletter. Some days I do a little bit of everything, or nothing at all. It just depends. Do what you can. If you can’t do something today, what else can you do? Then do it. That mantra works for me, at least. Most of the time.

I have been feeling the itch to draw another piece for my Colorful Joy series. I might indulge in doing that side quest before moving back to my Book 2 project! Hopefully I’ll be able to show you all in the next update (though the Goldfish will likely see it first!). The color? Red.

In other news… I feel like life hasn’t been too interesting lately. I want to get this newsletter out soon, but I don’t have anything of significance to share (that’s non-art related).. I’ve been reading. I’m somehow on a streak of reading bad books which I am desperate to break (PLEASE!). I’ve roller skated once, hopefully I can do that more since it’s been so nice outside recently. I’ve been listening to KPop music for the first time.

Oh, this might be important for people that see me semi-often… I’ve been growing out my hair for a few months now. I’ve had pixie-cut hair for 6 years. There are a lot of small reasons as to why I’m not cutting it short, but mainly just because I wanted to try it (long hair) out again. Or just to remind myself why I like it short. Who knows! It’s currently in a weird in-between shaggy phase that I am not loving, but I’m toughing it out for the sake of science! But yes, if you see me in-person and think I look a little different, my hair is just longer and in need of a haircut (that I can’t have!).

Some sort of sickness has been going around. I would know, I got sick TWICE in ONE WEEK. Completely different symptoms. I was so mad. But please, wash your hands and take care of yourselves!

P.S. You should see a paywall below inviting you to become a Guppy. Guppies, as I have said, do not receive any benefits, but they technically need their paywall somewhere in order to work. I promise you have read everything here! I hope this clears up some confusion. Thank you guys!
